  • Another few questions

    Hello all,

    Another round of useless questions.

Does copper tubing cause a problem with SVO, or is the following
another one of the biodiesel camp myths?

    http://journeytoforever.org/biodiese...ml#copperstudy

If the above is correct, what metals, i.e: aluminium, steel, are safe for
    use with SVO?

If one was contemplating installing a fuel heater, does one patch into
the water system around the heater matrix feed, or is another point
preferred? Also, what temperature and pressure does the cooling
system generally run at, approximately? Lastly, what is the minimum
bore size that should be used in any pipe in the fuel system?

    Cheers once again,

    Matt

Unfortunately, the article only quotes one paragraph from the study, and I can't find the original study (not with a few minutes searching, anyway).
What I have found suggests that the corrosion of copper with diesel/SVO is more to do with water and sulphur content than anything else.
Also, the "reduction in ocidation stability" would only become an issue if the fuel is left in for a long period. If your fuel consumption is such that any batch of SVO only remains in contact with the copper for a few days, I can't really see it being a problem.

No warranty is issued with this opinion!

Cheers. That was along the lines of what I expected the answer to be. It would have
niggled me if I hadn't double checked, though. Wouldn't it be nice if the
biodiesel and SVO camps stopped trying to make each other appear to be the
devil's spawn, and actually helped each other along.

By the way, am I imagining things or does there appear to be a new set of smilies?
