Hmmmm, I've been here before, firstly it was anti mini (the proper one) because they were too dangerous in a crash, then it was diesel in general because they smoke, then it was motorcycles because they are too fast & dangerous and, people only use them for pleasure, then 2 stroke vehicles because the pollute too much now 4x4's

The daft (sorry I can't spell ridiculus) thing is that I used to have a modified mini, it did 20 to the gallon round town & used a gallon of oil a month (oh and full strength leaded petrol) but nobody stuck stickers on that!

Yep, I have a 4x4, A two stroke racer, a trail bike and I go shooting. I must be public enema number one. But if anyone is thinking of putting a fake parking ticket on my surf, i'd like to point out that as well as above I also have a cannon and an explosives lisence.

I wont go for a T-shirt with **** or similar on and you will probably offend more than just the anti mob.

Also I got between .6 and 1.3 on my last emissions NOT running veg. not bad for a 13 year old motor.

These libral minded do gooders are nothing short of sheep. What happens when minority means them? They really boil my blood.

When will these people get a life, they want to ban 4x4's but complain about mpg, what about Rolls Royce, Jags etc etc.
They complain about hitting pedestrians; i am more enraged at the amount of busses i have seen mount kerbs to jump traffic.
High vehicles and not seeing pedestrians while reversing! What about MPV's (transit vans with carpets).

Ya know we have to live and let live, 'ban' is such a strong word, and crippling our already strugaling rural community with higher taxes for 4x4's is madness.

Had to get this of my chest, but these people are just nuts, i reckon they would follow one another off a cliff.

In 4x4 magazine it said that the stop urban 4x4's website was taken down for a while due to copyright infringement on some of the imaged used, naughty peeps.

can't we remove front diffs (so we're not polluting in 4x4's anymore)... make them into some kind of medieval weapons by attaching them to sticks and beating some greenies with them!

The ten reasons for hating 4x4's were hilarious!

1. You're not a farmer

Correct!! But it is my choice as to what I drive.............Be very carefull pal as I am currently eyeing up a nice 14 litre Scania tractor unit that I may use for commuting!!!

2. Your family fits into a saloon car or people carrier

Wife has the family wagon, I drive this, so fark off !!

3. You will breathe cleaner air

Right in there with a few of you others I smoke so that one is a non-issue.

4. You will save money

Money saved on fuel = $$$$ to spend on other toys.................hmmm some thought may need to go into this

5. You won't have to lie to your grandchildren

Hopefully by the time I have grandchildren I will have an album full of pics of my surf(s)

6. You will be less likely to kill a pedestrian

They have the footpath and zebra crossings, the rest of the tarmac is mine.

7. You might see a small child early enough to avoid backing over them

I look after my daughter arround cars, you worry about yours

8. You will be less likely to injure people in other cars

My car is to protect ME if I hit someone or they hit me I am only worried about ME (and my wee girl when she comes for a ride)

9. You will have a better time driving

Easy to park, just learn how to drive, the only vehicle I enjoy driving more that my Surf is a big Fire engine.

10. People won't think you are an 'idiot'

If I get dirty looks they may get a fag end flicked in thier direction preferably when they have a sunroof open.

I think this point in particular is way off the mark.

1. My Surf is a good 2-3ft taller than my previous car, giving me better viability and allowing me to spot kids or animals in the road sooner, allowing me to make quicker and safer decisions to avoid them.

2. Compared to the company Merc Vito van, I can see out the back of my Surf, whereas the van has no back window. An advantage, surely?

3. My Surf makes a low, diesel-powered grumbly noise when moving. This is louder and can be heard further away that most petrol engined cars, giving pedestrians and kids better warning.

4. 0-60? It ain't quick, so less chance of hitting someone, or at least inflicting serious damage, by pulling away too quickly.

hmmm campaign against urban 4x4's... now my dad lives on a farm in norwich.. of course he doesn't have 2 cars ... so when he drives into town it will be in a landy.... would love to see them ticket him....
