me want, me want - I was trying to find some in the States on my last visit. Not sure I understand what everyone is asking - is someone getting a template or is someone going to be banging these out?

That's what I wanted to know. If not I do know a chap who does Stainless fabrication who could turn out a couple of sets from a pattern, but if someone is already on with that then so much the better.

I made the set for Danno as a test to see how they fit and also to see what sort of interest there would be in making more of them, so far they seem alright apart from one side seems to be P***ed to his bodywork and the other side is fine not to sure why as yet Danno will be having a closer look later.
So at the moment they are still in development so watch this space!!
The only other thing I will say at the moment is that they would not come out as cheap as I would of hoped there is a lot of metal and a lot of work involved in making them

I will have a look into making stainless ones.

Not wanting to step on anyones toes, but I talked to a chap who does stainless steel fabrication for us at work, he does mostly brewerys and pharma, so v. neat stuff, and has the fully equiped workshop.

He says that in thickwall stainless there is £110 cost price not inc in materials, and you would be looking at 300 a set made up assuming non ground welds and the open box ends plated off etc.

Like I say if Jotto is going to do some then I'll keep out of it, but if not then I can put you onto my mate. He is v. good - made me a fabulous cannon out of some Sched80 pipe.

BTW he doesn't think it will really be any cheaper to do in plain steel by the time you put enough paint on to make it worth doing - does this tie up with the numbers you ended up at Jotto?

So far, the bars are indeed a prototype and yes they will be going into production very soon. Stainless is an option and Jon is costing at the moment.

As far as finishes are concerned we are on the case for powder coated, painted, maybe even chromed.

These will have ground welds, and the open ends will either be plated or capped.

They need a bit of fettling as they do have a few problems with the mounting positions and I'll be out with the tape measure to sort that one out.

We are still working on a fixed price, with finishing options and materials.

                      Stay tuned!

will ground welds affect top speed and MPG??... could you use velcro to make the vehicle more mobile?

whats the idea behind the design?
I dont know anything about the practicalities of sliders and what needs to be where etc...

why cant I get big tubes made up like Jons sidesteps or do these not give enough pretoction?

I presume you can use hi-lifts etc on them Dan?

The idea is what ever you have, Jotto's are made of fat tube, Roger's are made of square, and Danno's John built ones are like the pics, you can make them however you like. I have some idea for my ones that I've seen in the US.

You need to deside if you want to weld or bolt them on, and if you want to high lift off them they need to be strong enough and stick out far enough for the high lift to clear the body work.

Yes I wanted them for hi-lifts as well as looks, and my 5 y/o nipper cant get in!

Prob with Jons pipes is that they only mount on to the original sidestep mounts and wouldn't take the weight of jacking.

But, hold that thought on the fat boy tubes!
