Well it was fun in here for a bit then.

I take the point that it was approaching the boring point for some folk, but when the category is General Interest/ chit chat surely it should mean exactly that.

We all have a choice whether to read a thread and contribute to it, or just ignore something of no interest to the person.

Also you decided to create a special section for those members who not only owned surfs but had other common interests with other members.

That got a good response from those that were interested.
Those that were not interested voiced an opinion and you immediately back-pedal and remove the section and all posts.

The sensible answer to those not interested would quite simply be don't read it

It amazes me to find folk that can persistently read something of no interest to themselves and then moan about it.

This is not what I expect from a forum, I expect the freedom to read what I choose and to be able to contribute about anything of interest to forum members.

Koi you state that this site is for Surfs and Runners only !! yet we still have a picture of the pickup on the banner, that itself does not bother me in the slightest, but does make a bit of a mockery on your Surfs and Runners statement

Watching this forum last night as a guest, I witness it turn from a happy go lucky fun place to be... To a fairly run of the mill techy boring place.

Last interesting point then I shall leave you for the time being, to discuss bio diesel or whatever today's fun topic is..

    Comparing read for read,
the thread on Algebra got 5 times more views (129) than the thread on Three Cheers for the management (24) although both posted around the same time.

Off soapbox and gone to read beano

Like the people who listen to an entire radio show then write to complain that it was awful!

Lets keep it diverse and fun.

Keith, go outside ..take a deep breath...take 2 if it helps then come back on the forum with a bit of perspective.

"Interesting point of view, but the main issue is that all the folk concerned do indeed have a surf as there main vehicle, and I think IMO that hearing about someones off road toy is a wee bit more interesting than reading a thread about running out of fuel !!!!
No offence but it is a thread you opened
        http://www.yotasurf.co.uk/Forums/showthread.php?t=1754"

How open minded is it to keep having a pop at anyone who doesn't share your opinion ?
        i.e. Morr ,Sewerat etc etc.(Me next ?)
I was on your "side" when this debate began but the way you're having a dig at people is losing my support
As you said " It amazes me to find folk that can persistently read something of no interest to themselves and then moan about it."
Just take your own advice & exercise some discretion with the mouse !
Now lets get back to the way things were before the Great Suzi debate
& have a laugh & help each other

Well I am genuinely sorry that you view it that way, however I will continue to take a POP at anyone who feels that 7 or more members of this forum should be made to feel like castouts because they choose to have a second vehicle,, most of those 7 have been on both the forums for a very long time.

As Surf owners we should be allowed to talk about anything we like in the general interests part of the forum and I shall continue to fight for what I believe is right.

And that is the freedom to choose and discuss a second car without persecution and complaint. After all we do discuss a fairly wide spectrum in the general section anyway.

I know it is becoming farcicle and I know that it was almost resolved when a new section was opened, but I still cannot comprehend the mindless attitude of some members who wish to fight against it.

This is not a subject that I will turn my back on, as I believe being the first to buy an off road toy, after damaging my surf, carries a bit of resposibility towards the members who chose to follow and are now feeling just a bit let down and a bit like being hunted out.

Incidentally, apart from my opening point of view, I have expressed nothing other than responding to replies on a thread that I started

          Regards
          Keith

Thats (one of )the bits that I really agree with .....I do offroad my surf & concluded long ago that a Suzi was the best way to avoid most of the damage I,ve done, as well as go on more extreme courses where I couldn,t/wouldn,t take my surf.
I,m sorry you feel persecuted .I felt 99% of the anti-suzi stuff was tongue in cheek...I know mine was.
The thing is it escalated out of control & a lot of people felt it was spoiling the forum.
Of course theres a place for other vehicles on here....I,ve seen Tony post pictures of his breakfast !!!
(Almost) Anything goes....but if we can,t exercise a bit of self-restraint then its up to the management...& who wants...to be censored - not me

keith i bought my second car for off road use for same reasons as you. not because you had one.
and i believe there is room for all on the forum, and that the suzi six as its become should be able to post in general chit chat.
but some members did not see it that way so we the way i see it compamised, by having the other section [which could in my opinion include any non surf related topic] sothe few others did not have to trawl past non surf threads and posts to get to wot they are looking for.
lets all calm down let the votes be counted and get on with our enjoyment of the forum.

i am glad that every one is getting over the "SUZIGATE" scandel how about this for an idea would it be possible to have an addition to the profile of say a section " other interests " and then have that databased into the search facility then ppl could search for other ppl that may be able to help them , get the info quickly and not put up posts that others may feel detract from the forum ( me as i said before dont care what i get asked about anything ) all the pm's that i have sent have all been replied to the following day so it seems a fast way of getting info arround also i will be posting my own web page soon and will be having a downloads section so any info that ppl want to store i will be happy to hold onto it and post a link whenever it is required if this has already been done or it cant for some tech reason sorry but just an idea that popped into my head at 2:15 am

love , peace and happyness to ALL fellow surfer's

We had a problem with a folk music site that I use, where members of and supporters of a music group from the Hull area, made multiple posts, about the band it's members, and upcoming gigs. The resolution was to start a single monthly thread called the Punch the Horse [Name of group] December, or whatever month is appropriate, thread. Now anyone who wants to post any relevant info uses that month's thread to do so. We could even have a sticky called something like Non Surf stuff.

um... feel a bit bad for saying about stop going on about suzuki's all the time now!!

it's not talking about the suziki's, it was that there were so many posts and different threads and they all need to go in the same place.

i think the "other toys" section is the best idea so then everyone knows what goes where

I like the idea of the Other Toys section. I know that at least one other member has seperate offroad interests in Motocross. I am thinking about getting/building some kind of offroad buggy with a motorcycle engine, to reach the parts that no other offroad-going vehicle can reach. ( With apologies to Heineken ).
Several on here are into Surfing of the non-Hilux kind but also own a Hilux Surf. There are people on here that combine surfing with power kiting and kitesurf. There are people that have power kites and mountain boards (Go anywhere skatebords with big wheels- another facet of offroading and very environmentaly friendly)
The main point is that we have all chosen a vehicle that suits our needs. It drives and corners (almost) like a sports car. Will take the dog, all our camping gear, tow our caravans, accomodate the rugrats, go anywhere within reason and I am so damn enthusiastic about mine that I have recommended it to anyone that shows an interest in any outdoor activity that may involve driving on anything but tarmac.
The thing that made me become an active member of this forum was that it did not appear to be run by automatons with blinkers on. (As so many other forums appear to be). It was, and still is fun.
                        Lets have fun.

                              Blimey

Been away for a couple of weeks and come back to WW3

I don't even have a Surf, I ride a Motorcycle (main transport) I was accepted on this Forum for WHO I AM "NOT" for what I had on the drive
I thought that being a member of this forum was a bit of fun, to pass on info, (the usefull and the downright stupid kind?) to chat about our love for the Surf & 4Runner , NOT to bash one another () over who has a "Toy" for off roading?
As far as I am aware 99% of the members ofthis Forum own a Surf.....
If they can afford a "Mud Plugging, Wreckable, Toy" then Good for you
I like hearing about the work you are doing to them & the photo's showing the change from road going machine to Mud Plugging Monster.
I have not read all of the posts yet but whom ever it is/was complaining about the "Toys" should understand that this is a "FORUM" its where people exchange thoughts, ideas, have a chat, relax, have "FUN"
I for one say "Keep posting Boys & Girls" lets see how your Toys are comming along.
There now, see 1st post back and there are Bullet holes all across my screen
