Running in new head

Should get me surf back today, only been away 3 weeks!!! had new head, rad and apparantly they need a pin which will be here today and its been ordered from toyota.

so how long should i be gentle with my new bits n bobs?? and is there anything worth checking along the way etc???

I think it is 1000miles keeping it under 3000 revs - That means a top speed of about 68mph in a 2.4!!!

Common sense would dictate no hard reving of the engine . Daily check of oil and coolant to make sure no losses due to leaks . Listen for any non regular engine noises . I dought you will have any probs .

Mainly reinstall the grin .

One of the turbo pipes (The Return if I remember Correclty) blew on mine at the beginning of the year.. It had to have the crank re-ground... new shells etc etc etc.. The pratt who brought it back from the garage for me decided to give it a good thrashing (too make sure nothing would go wrong he said) He ended up turning all the shells and all the work had to be repeated...

MUPPET!!!

Luckily for me everything was covered under warranty... and the lad who "decided to give it a good thrashing" was employed by the dealership!! so they footed the WHOLE BILL!!!

Needless to say When it was finally finished (12 weeks later) I went to fetch it myself! I kept it under 3000rpm for the 1st 1000 miles (not km's) then gave it and oil and filter change.. other thana few unconnected problems its been fine ever since!

I know this is different to the head but i would imagine the same principles would apply!
