very odd rear window fault

Apologies first, i know this is about the most talked about thing on here.

Mine is doing something very odd. often it wont work with the key but I can hear the click of a relay so switch must be working yes?
When its in this mood it wont work from the switch in the cab either....................UNTI L I start the engine?? Batteries are fine. Could the vibration from the engine be making the relay work?

Is the relay inside the tailgate?

it is located on the nearside behind the little cubby hole mate when my 2.4 was doing that i ended up replacing the window motor, loads on here about the rear window just type in rear window motor in the search bit and read on
