Recommended garages

I bought my Surf from CCB just between Guildford and Ash. They've not done anything more complicated than a diff gasket change so far but they seem to have good facilities and a courtesy car.

Anyone used them for cam belts etc?

He has a Surf himself (his second), has serviced several Surfs of Forum members including mine. Very obliging & friendly attitude.

I live in West London and i would always drive down to Tony near Basingstoke. It takes me about 50 mins and i usually arrive just after 8am. I would highly recommend him as he only does Surfs. It took him 40 mins app to change my radiator and as far as i know, theres not much he can't do on a Surf.
Not being paid for this advert, honest, but you won't get ripped of, like some garages.

A list of recommended garages, that would be great! I am searching these but haven't found anywhere near my home in London?

I want to get my timing belt changed. My local garage quoted 243 quid
for a 3 hour job to change the belt. I'm sure I can do better?

Anyone recommoend a mechanic or garage near NW London I can try?

I have a 1992 2.4 ssr-x. Thanks

£243!! just had all the belts, inc. timing belt, filters, oil, rad cap, stat, both rear dampers and exhaust changed, i bought the bits, labour charge= £150 inc. MOT, bit far away for you though.

Thats London for you.

Had the work done yesterday at Edmonton. See above post. Pleasant chap, no fuss 110 t-belt and 60 brakes. The old belt looked like new. I wonder how long they REALLY last? My old Mazda MX-5 had a non-interference drive design so if the cam belt failed on this the engine would be OK.

Its a brill idea I live in cleveland loads of surfs about but my big ends have gone and so far i have been to 6 garages who are all a waste of time .
All they want to do is throw another engine in and not do a rebuild

Nah They still retain the common touch and like to mix with the great unwashed (us), The Great Dr Anglegrinder still makes time in his surgery for the Charity and pro bono cases, and rather strangely allows his assistants time off just so that he can get his hands occasionaly dirty!
