      Re

      LOL!

I reckon if you "really" wanted to get rid of the Surf you would not have posted asking for reasons "not to", you would have done it.

I have often felt like you do but I just have to look at it after a good wax and everything makes sense again!

They are brill, I know it and all here know it!

My only niggle is that I didn't get a 3.0 but when I think about it I do not really need it 'cos I never tow and never go above 70mph!

If you need further convincing drop it off at a relatives house for a few weeks and see how you feel!

      Later!

No Pics mate sorry - Will get some and post! I have one right at the back of the bonnett - near windscreen facing backwards (towards the rear) bought it from Halfrauds - think it was designed for an escort - it fit OK with a bit of no nails to fill the gaps then used touch up paint - there is a slight difference in colour but barely noticible!

a vent on each side of the bonnet - not sure how efective they are - similar to this pic

No worries, I was just wondering what shape vents you used.
I used genuine Astra GTE vents. I cut one in the bonnet directly above the turbo, as thats were a good deal of under bonnet heat comes from, and the other vent symetrically on the other side.
I've had mine fitted for about a year now, and they really do help to keep the temp down under the bonnet, wether moving or stuck in traffic.

I'd never really noticed the difference between having them and not - I just liked the look of them! - I am guessing that they stopped me overheating yesterday - Its the only explanation i can think of! - When the Fan Belt went about 6 months ago it overheated in 5 minutes flat!

Basically with the alternator loose and all the belts loose accordingly its the same as not having a fan belt so expected the same scenario! - 50mins of driving without a hiccup! AMAZING!!! I even left work 2 hours early cos i thought i'd be stopping every couple of miles! I got home 2 hours early instead - now I cant sell it with an achievement like that!

I think it deserves a bit of TLC now!! Might even flush the rad - fix the transmission leak - have a look at the tailgate lock - replace the perspex window - give it a good clean - fix the punture on the spare etc etc etc
