Personally I wouldn't go higher than 2" for a frequent road truck. I recently put 2" uprated springs on mine and tightened the torsion bars up.

To give you an idea it handles much better than standard seen as its stiffer all-round. Its not smooth like a canal boat anymore but i wouldn't say its unforgiving. I prefer the firmer feel. Any higher and money will have to be put into the front suspension as well.

I am happy with 31" muds but any bigger than 33" and its will be gutless and terrible on fuel.

A bit off-topic but I love those windscreen sun shields but they are difficult to find and expensive when you do find them.

My Hilux has got a 6" lift and 32" tyres. It isn't gutless, drives beautifully and steers accurately with no bump steer, wandering or shimmying.
I was towing the best part of 2T home tonight and an Astra struggled to pass me on an incline, from a standing start. I know he struggled, as 2 lanes became one and he could either cut me up or die due to oncoming traffic.
The tw@t cut me up, got a long reply from my hooter, then preceded to give me the bird, as they do. Tw@t.

Well i'm not going to pay £180 for a bit of second hand acrylic. Although I didn't plan on spending upwards of £2000 on a truck I bought for £1000 but there you go. I can't say I regret it.
