How much play?

Just had the lady MOT'd. They tell me there is some play in the connection between the driver side drive shaft and front diff.

Does anyone know if there should be? if so how much? or am I looking at a big job?

Any advise gratefully recieved.

if you mean the front diff flange, where it goes into diff - thats seems to be normal on the drivers side.
I even read on Aussie surf forum, that a guy checked brand new Hilux's and it was same on them!
and a few people on here have mentioned it on their surfs/4runners - including mine.
unless they mean the CV joints within the flange.

If its the inner CV to diff bit, as long as its not leaking oil, its generally OK. As Andy said, they all have play in them.
