  • Locking the Diff!?

Went off-road over the weekend on a beach, it got a bit hairy so I put it into 4 wheel drive and locked the diff. The dash flashed with the 4 green wheels and the orange centre. Is this normal? When Im just in 4 wheel drive it does not flash.
    Cheers
    Will post pictures soon.

If the lights are flashing, 4WD is not fully engaged/locked.

4WD (diff open) = 4 green wheels light up.
4wD (diff locked) = 4 green wheels + orange diff light up.

Lights flashing - not yet locked or engaged - try moving forwards and reverse, turn steering from side to side. 4WD should then lock up, and the lights stay on.

I think the solenoid switches may get somewhat sticky if they don't get used often - mine was very slow to engage for the first few times, but it is getting quicker.
You will no doubt also get a more knowledgeable reply from one of the senior staff!

thats cos a 1992 model - 2nd gen, doesnt have a central differential to lock

(when you go into 4wd, its same as a 3rd gen in 4wheeldrive + central diff locked!)
