Sumo, I think you've substituted the words 'air con' for 'front grille'

No I aint 1st gen aircon rads are fitted right at the front over the main radiator,so it all comes off at the front. Its a bit of a problem cleaning the mud off after a play day so now its gone.

Looking at the rad it may give a clue as to the overheating you have had .

          That's what windows are for!

Removed mine off my 3.0 - frees up a lot of space around the engine bay fmaking easier access for my pie-eater hands!

Plus, like Sumo's 1st gen my air con rad sat infront of the main rad.

This means the air meant to cool the coolant rad was getting warmed up by the air-con rad first.

Not sure why they would design a cooling system with an ancillary rad infront of a primary rad like that, should have been the other way around.

Some 2nd gebs have it better, with it being under-slung, which is great unless you take it off-road, then it just becomes as massive mud trap, and limits access to the underside of the engine.

Get it off - you know it makes sense!

It's all very well taking the roof off but remember the perils of Great British weather. It'll be baking hot on fine July afternoon one moment and be ****ing down the next. So there.

Make sure that you have removed all the parts that are in the way of the condenser. The parts required to be removed, and how they are removed, will vary greatly from car to car. Keep in mind the system contains not just refrigerant but also refrigerant oil which could spatter in your face. The style and exact removal procedure for the AC line will be different from vehicle to vehicle. In some cases it may be easier to have this repair done by the professional technician . This company http://www.airconservicingsingapore.com/ is specialised in mantainece all types of A/C . Has great attitude and are very accurate .
