Surf 1, Carina 0

Guess what!!!
I just parked up outside and came in to go to bed when I hear a big thud from outside. A Toyota Carina has kindly parked into the rear of the Surf with its boot. But get this - no driver!!! All locked up and quiet - spooky.
He left the handbrake off and it rolled about 50m down the road into the back.
The Surfs slightly squiffy corner bumper moved another inch or so forward but the carina left with a ruined side bumper, dented rear bumper and a bendy boot.
I got plod down as it was blocking a bus route and they agreed to pay but was slightly shocked to see us pushing his car up the road when he thought it was outside!

Ill have to check mine for more serious damage tomorrow.
Oh well at least I can goto bed now

at least you know whose car it is and that they are going to pay for the damage.just hope there is no hidden damage to cause extra probs

It looks bent underneath the corner bumper but i think it was already. plastic boot step is kinked but might get away without changing the rear bumper but putting my fogs in the dent!
Will whip it off tomorrow and see...

My local councillor left the handbrake off her car one day and hers rolled down a hill, took the front of my car off and buried itself in the side of my neighbours!

I hope plod breathylised your neighbour. To err once is human but to leave the handbrake off as well suggests other influences. Or am I just a suspicious old sod?

it only clipped the rear quarter but quite hard... will show piccies tomorrow i hope.

yeah mate the angle he was going it would have rolled it too
i thought about a breath test too but they just said to get the handbrake looked at as it was on but not enough.
He runs a chinese, maybe i should have requested free take aways for life/??

Set on jig and pull to straighted chassis .
Loss of earnings .
Cab fees to get about .
Whip lash ( I am trying to claim even though I was in bed at time of impact).
Diminuation ( loss of sale of vehicle due to accident).
