Turbo

As I contimplate where the whining noise is coming from on my Surf, I'm considering the possibility that it might be the Turbo, as Maveric suggested. Now I know turbo's cost lots. So has anyone had their turbo recon'd or bought one? Will this set me back a far amount? How do I find out for sure it's the turbo?

i had a turbo done at turbotek and it cost £550 for a full rebuild so not to bad better than a new turbo whitch is in the area of £1600

Christ. I need a new radiator as well. Mind you rather the turbo on it's way out than the torque converter or gearbox....
