  • God Damn Back Window

Ok so today my back window got jammed closed for a few seconds.
Now the motor works but does not seem connected to the window.
I have had it all to bits (not easy when you can't get the window up when the tailgate is open) and can't find anything wrong but the motor is just not winding the toothed wheel to get the window up OR down.
    Anyone know what to do?
I've manually put the window up and left it like that.
    Damn thing.

    Paul.

When you say the motor is working, can you see the shaft turning?
Or maybe the teeth have worn on the motor and they are not meshing with the regulator. Try using some washers on the motor mountings to 'space' it away from the tailgate and engage the teeth .

I can't see anything turning at all, i can hear the motor turning though. Also i can't get the full motor/winder assembly out to check it properly,i'm off to France next weekend and i need it fixing sharpish.
      Not happy.
How do you mean putting the washers on Bushwacker?
      What will that do?
      Cheers.

I have got the same problem with the tailgate window.

I changed the motor after a lengthy removal procedure and examination. I fitted the new motor only to find out that the regulator teeth were also worn. * BIG WASTE OF TIME* I have spent hours trying to remedy this problem and now I can only get the window to wind up about 3/4 way up.
So I have had a piece of perspex made up to fit the gap and it stays in place using some rubber window seal meshing between the rear window and the gap. This is only temporary untill I get the money to order the whole mechanism.

Don't mess about with this one...you haven't got time!

Get onto Milners and get a complete mechanism ordered, motor and the lot.

Prepare yourself for a good half days fitting time if you do it yourself.

Alternatively you could chase round for a s****per one, but to be quite honest this could be bolloxed as well.

          Hope this helps

          Bob

Swap the motor with one from a back door - they are identical.

I have removed the back window motor, the drive wheel was totally shagged.

Got a few nice condition ones ordered from a breakers. Should be sorted this week easily. Following Marky's tips it was easy to remove the old motor.

Going to thoroughly clean and lubricate the rubber runners in the back window frame before fitting the new motor to make sure there is no undue pressure put on the new motor or the new drive wheel.
