  • another fuel filter heater question

    Hi

I've been discussing heated fuel filter on another thread,

    question is:
Do you guys/girls reckon this heater on its own would be sufficient to pre-heat fuel (diesel/veg mixture) - before the heat exchanger takes over.

Reason i ask, is when filter heater is on and engine not running, the filter housing gets hot. But when engine on and cool fuel running through filter, it doesnt get as hot - due to fuel cooling down filter.

So I am wondering whether or not I actually need a 2nd inline fuel preheater, or will the standard toyota heated filter unit be OK on its own

    what do you reckon?

good question. the heat exchanger for the fuelcat type heater is pretty much the same as:

www.hotcampshowers.com which transfers about 1/2 the heat in the line, so 82 degree engine temperature raises shower water temp to 41 degrees.

I presume that they would all do that. Question should be, does the viscosity of the fuel increase sufficiently to stop the fuel waxing up? Next step would be block heaters...?

Pre heat is just enough to keep the fuel moving, so that the engine temp can take over once it warms up, I suppose....

    just my ramblings...
