Just been reading through that link, and the only conclusion I can come up with is, that someone was paid to write that article to make it seem as though were better of than the rest of Europe.
I don't care about the rest of Europe, I don't live or spend money there!

Is the BBC 'owned' by the government?

This rant is far from over!

"More than half the fuel used in the UK bears little or no fuel duty at all... so seeking to address the problem of high oil prices through road fuel duty alone would do nothing for the majority of consumers."
WTF! These people talk some rubbish, so everyone who drives a car doesn't count?

The basic problem in the UK IS the amount of duty on fuel, everyone in the world is suffering due to high oil prices, but because of our insane tax on fuel, its becoming unmanagable.

Whats the chances of the governmant saying, "look guys, we're making a bundle on the tax beacuse of high fuel prices, therefore we can reduce the duty on it to keep prices within reason for you....................."

Apparently the fuel duty raised is going into maintaining the roads.
Not 'round here it isn't, the roads around my area are no better than third world dirt tracks!
              That's why I got a 4x4.

Not really the reason, but it's something to throw in the faces of the green peace wierdybeards.

i dont care if the price goes up to £10 a litre i would still pay it just to get the point across that this sh!ty goverment will never stop me using my motor i used to be prowd of being british but not any more but i am prowd of my fellow brits for putting up with this comunist country so bring it on mr blair we will still be driving big tree killing, rabbit crushing ,mud throwing 4x4,s so na na nana na perhaps the other solution to the fuel price is make all the illegal imagrants push my car to work that way i can still pay tax for there benafits

I don't think Blair really cares that much, 'cos he will be no worse off. Besides, he's resigning soon so we'll all have to empty our pockets to Gordon!
