  • temperature gauge

Having fitted a more accurate digital temperature gauge I have seen how little the standard gauge moves in comparison when getting hot. When I was towing our caravan and loaded truck (approx. 1500kg) through dorsets more challenging hills with the outside temp at 30degrees,the standard gauge moved to halfway but the digital gauge peaked at 102degrees.Although the temp. dropped back quickly to 80degrees within 1 min. when air flowing to rad. over 40 mph.Basically the truck never gets near 90 degrees when not towing but will warm up when towing without the standard gauge showing it .

    Absolutly !!!
A second temp monitor is the only way to go.
The standard Toyota gauge has 3 positions
    1. Cold
    2. A wee bit below 1/2
    3. Oh F..K !!
I have a 2nd gauge, my-design overtemp warning system that automatically runs the 'lecky fan and the ability to monitor under bonnet temps too.
If the old girl overheats now I'll feel like a complete ****!!
