  • Heating Oil

I've just changed my home to use piped Gas rather than oil from a tank.

Can I use the remaining oil as fuel im my 2.4 surf ?

Will it stain it like red diesel (I don't think it will but want to check).

Also, does anybody want a big old metal oil tank ?

To the best of my knowledge you can use it but it is illegal cost u aint given Tony & his mate a big enuf slice.

I would tyr to flog the oil localy or even advertise it for free, buyer takes it away. My Mum did this & bloke came around and made several trips with jerry cans. I think it cost her £90 for someone to take the tank.
Parts of your engine go up, stop then go back! Mm!

Im an oftec registered heating engineer. Most domestic boilers run on kerosine ,so i hope you can use this in your surf.

The second point is ,if you want to get rid of the tank it is a specialist job to remove it.You are not allowed to cut it up . Its do do with the regs on enviromental damage and oils spills.

        Cheers

Get it thrown in the surf, it`s no more dodgy than running on undeclared veg oil.

          Just a quick storey:-

A lad at work was grassed up to C&E for running on red diesel. They turned up at work to dip his tank.Thing is when they turned up the only check they could do was for colour, and suprise suprise it was clear.

He was running on heating oil-same colour as white only differemce is it stinks

            Why not...

...fill the tank with veg oil and have your surf converted to run on 100% veg. Could even put the veg oil in and mix it with the heating oil. That way if you're stopped you can legitimately claim that you're reusing the tank and there may have been some heating oil left in it when you put your first batch of veg oil in!

Would obviously need to register to pay the 27p/ltr duty though.

            Just a though anyway.

p.s. I've been told by a few people now that this type of oil is good for diesels, but of course the legality issue stands.

I'd have some for my tractor if I lived closer!!

Many vintage tractors owners use it to make Tractor Vaporising Oil (TVO) which is legal for use in veteran tractors without tax.

Most TVO tractors start on Petrol, but swap over to TVO for heavy work - the 28second heating oil mixed with petrol.

Not sure if it can be used to run diesel cars though.

If you get want I'll put a post on the tractor forum for people in your area??
