  • virgin surfer!!!

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself and to ask a couple of simple questions.
1st of all my name is wayne from swindon and i have just bought my very first surf, it's a ssr-g 3.0td L reg 1994.
My wife and I were prompted to start searching for a 4x4 due to owning 2 very large dogs!! plus we wanted more room all round, but having bought this yesterday all I can say is WOW lol.
It really is quite a luxurious ride, very comfy and surprisingly light and easy to drive, but the first question I have is, when on turning on uneven ground on full lock there is a slight "clunking" from the front, has anyone else experienced this?
Also when in 4 wheel drive should there be a light on the dash?
    Thanks,

Welcome aboard - that's the initial reason we bought a Surf - large animal lol. (what you got by the way)

the 'Clunk' is just the steering stops needing a blob of grease on them - there's 4 on the front btw - and in 4WD - you should have a light on. do a search on any subject and you'll almost always get an answer.

The hardest thing to do though - is to wipe the grin off your face. Don't forget to join in the forum fun.

They not a bad bunch on here - mind you there is a mad bu66er who likes sheds lurking around somewhere

Well thx for the warm welcome guys, i,m off out surfing again with my new toy (albeit a very big one) lol i must investigate the search facility more later too.

one more question 1st though....do you use the cruise just on dual carriageways and motorways etc cos i was putting it on so,s i wouldn,t speed down long 30mph stretches of road earlier but her indoors thought it would use more fuel?

oh well i,m off out to grin at small cars....later all lol

Basic rule is to have no lights on on the dash for normal driving - unless its the hard suspension green light.

some advocate the use of the O/D button for under 40 mph around town - but I don't bother with it except in traffic jams as i can get it to flash in time to the music!!!
