by 2012 half of london will be under water.....
and the benefits to us in the real world outside london is not hearing them bleat about public transport 'my train was 5 minutes late, its intolerable..blah blah' and not having to sit up half the night to find out we didnt win something...
by 2012 half of london will be under water.....JUST LIKE YOUR SHED WAS HEY
Sorry, but I was hoping some other country would get it!
1. Costs too much to put together a proposal
2. Costs too much to host
3. IOC Commitee Memebers are bribed! with gifts that conform to their guidelines
3. Short term gains for the local community - a plus yes, but what will happen after the games? the government and olympic commitee won't give a damn - just look at the Wok!...sorry the dome as an example
Idea..are they going to be using the Wok, sorry Dome for something at last
4. Lottery money being used for other causes than it was initially setup for [Millenium Commission, Sports Council, Art and crappy art at that - anyone can produce a Tracey Emmit et al and don't builders lay bricks on top of each other on-site??]
5. The Olympics is now about Corporation Sponsorships and not as original started - Amateurs
Bah - humbug!!
Just think of where the millions of money can go [Hospitals, Schools, Infrastructure - roads, canals, rail].
£12 Billion was the cost quoted for The Games on tonights news. Also stated was that on last four Olympic Games the host nation was always nearly 3x over budget- making around £36 Billion by 2012. That's about £600 each for every man, woman & child in the population. Put another way that's £3600 for each TAX PAYER or enough to run the NHS for more than a year!
Tis time for our 12-14 year olds to START TRAINING!!! I hope we win a few golds- each medal will be worth a little bit more than gold this time round......
The only plus point is at least we got one over the French! But I'd rather not pay £3600 for that though.
We haven't had the olympics in this country since 1948. It should be something to be proud of. It will bring revenue into this country and regenerate a large part of East London.
IT'S A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT AND WE SHOULD ALL BE PROUD.
I withdraw all that I posted about the "power surge" on the underground. It looks like the UK has had its own 911. Too much damage and too widespread to be an electrical fault.
