Just a point, wouldn't it be better to mount it on roof bars ?

Then you can add or remove it at will, and no holes drilled

There are roof braces underside of the exterior roof skin. They are by no means very strong. You can bolt through the roof skin into the roof braces, and mount to all of them to spread the load. However, a note of caution. Do not place too much weight up there, things will still flex, and in motion, it will get "interesting".

You can get some more internal roof braces from your friendly and helpful Toyota parts monkey and weld some more in to give more 'capacity', but that is not where you want to carry anything substantial. You will have a real limit of about 200 - 250Kg. Even that will get "interesting" when moving the vehicle about. I've had 500kg up there, and lets just say on a short trip to France, not something I would recommend or encourage.

            Many Thanks for that

It´s not so much weight more a case of bulky stuff or long (ladders / long lengths of steel)

I will try my local Spanish Toyota Dealer for the roof braces (that will be fun) lol

These are the internal braces that hold the side panels/frame together whilst they weld the roof section on... (at least thats what they look like)

Should be a standard body part. As long as you can get the right part number... I'll try and have alook later on at my EPC...

Do you know how many braces there are and where they are or is it just better to take down the headlining and align the roof rack brackets to match

As for the parts I don´t think Toyota´s in Spain even know what a Surf is i´ve been in my local one and " they have not got a clue " (lol)

                Thanks Ian
