2nd/3rd gen? what model were airbags introduced

hi in the process of buying a 3.0td surf,just sold my 2.4 ssr-x

thing is should i get the new shape one ,or the newest 2nd generation?,how is the 3rd gen improved ,does the 2nd gen have air bags in in the late ones ?
have been looking on autoplanet at some surfs ,new shape 1996 5995 that seems a good price ,yet there are older ones (2nd gen) that cost more private ??

3rd Gen and they cut your arm open when they go off !!!

dont you have to get airbags replaced / serviced every 5 years now? bet it costs a bit...

Every 10 years, or 10 years from the manufacture date on the seat belts.
Hope to keep this one ten years this time instead of 3 weeks like the last
