Just shows how ill-informed these campaigners are. Encouraging people to drive around in third gear will cause more pollution due to the extra fuel being burnt. Engines and gearboxes will have to replaced on a regular basis, the manufacture of which will have an environmental cost.

Third Gear? Is that a Freudian slip? Third gear, third world, rickhaws, pedal taxis.........nah it couldn't happen here.

I'm all for their campaign, If they can come up with a vehicle that can carry 2 Adults, 2 kids, A dog and all the materials that i buy for renovating my house, eg bags of plaster, cement, plaster board etc, etc and can carry a ton weight plus keep everyone alive if a HGV slams into you (as it has) then Yes i will write the cheque today and look forward to getting in my new tardis super efficient and super strong car or simply get on the new train or bus service that will run at 24hrs a day (shift worker) and drop me off at work (40 miles away) as they propose.

Why don't they get real jobs and get a life.
