  • MOT Fog light?

Hi guys, MOT is coming uo soon and I realised i have no fog light!
I know you can get these 'universal fit' ones from rough trax but how easy are these fit yourself and where do you wire it up to from?

any helpful piccies and or guides would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks!

P.S anything else that may be import related that i may need to check before i get it MOT'd?

You must have had a foglight previously, to pass the SVA test, and other MOT's, so the wiring and switch should already be in place.

It probably got knocked off on an off road jaunt...
    It just does, OK?

Never had one and there is no switch that i can find in the cabin for it! I know it needs one so im wondering if it had a 'special' kind of MOT from the place i bought it since this will be its first MOT in the UK apart from the orginal one from the dealer. . .

It's one of those mot's where they take a photo down to the garage and get a certificate.

Most of the ones that I have seen have the power take off from the hard/soft suspension switch, think it's a green/grey wire.

but i now live 250 miles fomr the dealer, im not paying a surf fuel bill to go all that way just for a fog light when the universal ones are 6 quid from roughtrax, i just need to work out how to fit it. . .

just out of interest, how do you road legal surfers switch on your fog lights? where is the switch?

on the dash, to the right of the steering column on mine, but there are switch blanks you could use.it needs to be an illuminated switch and the light can only be used with headlights on, so the switch feed could be taken from the return on the "lights on" stalk.

Check the attachment - it's a wiring diagram that shows the wiring colours for the rear foglight. Some Surfs already have the wiring within the harness its just that not being a requirement in Japan the switch/light/relay etc are not fitted. My Surf has the switch fitted on the small panel on the bottom r/h side of the dash below the idle up switch.
If you do just lob one in it must be wired so that it only comes on when the side/headlights are on.
