  • Thanks, got surf and next steps......

    Folks,
Thank you for the help the last few weeks - I purchased my first surf in Japan last night I estimate a few months before it is here and on the road.

It is 1997 SSR-G in silver.

Can I confirm the steps for SVA etc?

    1) Fuel restrictor
    2) Speedo convert
    3) Fog light in none already
    4) Possibly UK approved tyres

Anything else specific to a surf/4x4? This is my first 4x4 import. It doesnt have large bull bars or anything like that, will I need to remove rear wheel or is this ok? I will handle the work myself.

This is also the first car Ive shipped in requiring an SVA, can anyone recommend a good test centre Southampton/Portsmouth way that will handle the testing and model report hiring etc please?

Looking forward to my first Surf

    Thanks and regards

    Ant

You missed out one little job that nearly always needs doing with a jap import - replace the crap jap stereo.

No fuel restrictor for the SVA, bonus

        Thanks

Hi m8 as far as I can remember there is an SVA place just
inside Dock Gate 4 Western Docks on the left,if they are still
there.I think they require some time to book the car in as
they have a lot of work via inporters in the docks.

          Cheers Chris

I found a top rate Sony set up fitted in mine with 12 CD autochanger. You never know - you might get lucky?

It does look like there is something a little flasher than the stock item that is for sure!

There is also a small screen with some controls above the rear view mirror, it appears to be stock fit - anyone know what that is?

              Thanks

I didnt use an auction house, I have Japanese friends and I find things I want and they arrive Sometimes I go over, but I didnt have time to do that for this purchase.
