Tonnes of stuff on the forum about this Pops Sounds like it may be a relay which is bad news as it's a £385 box behind the nearside rear panel & it's a pain in the ar** to get out.
Quick fix........chop the wires to the motor.....crimp some bullet connectors on.
Now you should be able to swap the wires. This makes the switch think its going up instead of down & vice versa.
If you leave these handy to get to , you can change them as needed to wind the window up and down.
If this works.......it proves your motor is ok & your problem is either a switch or a relay.

overheated again this morning on way to work
after rad was flushed out yesterday,
got her to local garage back of work, found thermostat was jamming shut
new stat fitted, i was 2hours late for work and still watching the temp gauge
roll on langdale

The rear window motor is indeed shared with a few other Toyota models, you will have to make sure to get one from the correct side of the car as they are handed. This has been discussed a few times on the forum before, according to this thread you require a front passinger one from a carina, supra, or corolla, not sure which years tho.
Try using the search feature on the toolbar above, it should help you find more details on how to strip it down etc.
