  • Surf on registration doc as panel van

I am planning to purchase a Surf from a car dealer which was imported 2 years ago. It is described on the registration document as a panel van - is this at all normal, did importers describe them this way to lower duties / taxes? Should I worry about this - any help much appreciated

It should be ok but might be worth getting it checked out with BIMTA, you should also get them to check the mileage at the same time.

        Trev.

My 1996 intercooler is listed as a camper, but that was done to avoid the SVA test, try cooking in the back of a surf !.

I think it may of been done this way as a scam to get cheaper insurance......I believe i have read a a post somewhwere about it.....of course if it has rear seats it cannot be legally registered as a van, I would look into it before i bought it if i was you.....

Was it easy to do the registration bit with the revenue? How hard is it to do the monthly returns etc?

Tony is complaining that its making him feel hungry though...

Nah, the Nova got swapped for a traction kite, but I have a worn out Renault 21 estate, half broken 89 2.4, or 2 pairs of pickup axles you can borrow!
