Hilux door speaker problem

Hi to all,

I desperately need help to upgrade the speakers in my Hilux EX. The speakers supplied are glued to the mounting bracket with VERY STRONG adhesive. I can't seperate the speakers without destroying the speakers and bracket! Can anyone advise where I can obtain brackets so I can attach new HiFi speakers of my choice.

I did approach Toyota on this but they are unable to help - speakers are only supplied as assemblys: speaker glued to the bracket! Brackets are not sold seperately.

Have you tried a hair-drier (or even a heat-gun if you are careful) to try and melt the glue and seperate the speakers from the brackets?

May help depending on the type of glue.

Another thing to try (assuming you have the speakers/brackets off the vehicle and don't care about destroying the speakers) is to try submerging them in hot water for a while - again with certain types of glue this can unstick it.
