In the early 90's I had an Opel Monza (2 door coupe 3ltr straight six mmmmmmmluvly) that allways did 18mpg however I drove it (quite hard usually)
I think that it shall have to be a 3ltr Surf next as they seem to be more economical. It makes sense as the engine is labouring less than the 2.4 and therefore using less fuel even though it has a larger capacity. A collegue has experienced the same with a 1.8 and 2.0ltr Mondeo.
saw somthing on sky about the hummer h2 and if you put your foot down the fuel consumption gauge shows 1 mpg now that is cool!
as for mine i dont care what it is to the gallon i just drive it and fill it up when its empty too much fun to drive to worry about how much it costs
I get about 19mpg and four sets of tyres (18,000miles) in 20 months and can get the fuel consumption gauge to read 4mpg when me foots down from my car, my wife gets about 23mpg and still on the same set of tyres for a year, so i bought a surf 2.4 and get 26ish mpg from it and i don't hang around in it, best ever miles to a tankful was 362miles down to the white line no light came on. My wife now drives the car, but i do just give it a spin every now and then just to scare myself. Sometimes i just need that fix of r/abouts and bends etc at silly speeds, yes geoff i am loony.
