Ok, had Andylala round tonight and fitted the new wiring loom. I have not changed my bulbs yet and have before and after pics lets see if you can spot the difference.

Firstly, please take your Parkinson's medicine. I've spent 30 seconds trying to focus my glasses in.
Secondly, stop trying to photgraph while you drive. It's not big and it's not clever.
(if that's the standard of your photography you'd better let Rick use the camera next weekend )
Thirdly, I don't know - but which do you think is better and do they make a differenceNO WORRIES!

Jotto,
so what do you really think?
The excited shaking when taking the pictures does give it away I suppose...
Bearing in mind that you have two different target vehicles there, the only thing that is the same, and in the same position is the lampost and the road.
Second image does look sharper on both, you can see a sharper edge on the lampost. and the road looks a lot better lit up... not to mention the curb stones down beside the lampost...
You can see the sleeping policeman a little better too, the shadow over the top is quite sharp, as is the shadow of the vehicle. Light spread seems better in the second image. Ought to wait and see till you put your new bulbs in... see if there is a difference there...
As with most of these vehicles, I think your headlights need aiming a little better (as do mine), never noticed that before, but with that loom in, it is more obvious.
Overall, an improvement, I think (my opinion) ... more light is better. But you have less voltage loss at the bulb socket now, so your bulbs can do what they were designed to do.
So if you have 13.45volts at the battery (engine running) and your new bulbs are (both high and low beam elements) 100w [total wattage 200w] (off road only, of course), that should draw in the vicinity of 14.87amps. There is a 30amp fuse on the main supply to each side, and a 15amp fuse on each spur to each element.
The reflector in the headlamp may have something to say about that... but that is another problem to be solved.Last edited by AndyLala; 23 February 2005, 23:45.

2nd pic looks much brighter!
I wondered about this as the 'pass' function of the lights on my old astra used both elements so on very bad roads I used to try and drive holding the stalk back as I drove along giving me better lighting
Looks goodTim
