  • About to dive into the Surf

    Hi all

    I'm seriously considering buying a 1993 TOYOTA SURF HILUX 2.4TD SSR-X. (UKP 4150)
A bit worried about the 'head blowing' (oh er missus) and radiator problems mentioned in previous posts.
This one has done just south of 90k km's and is real lovely to drive.
Needs two rear tyres, so how much should I knock the seller down for them?
Found a 89-93 manual in english for 15 quid on ebay...apparently This brand new owners handbook covers the KZN130, YN130, VZN130, LN130, SERIES SSR, SSRX, SSRG & SSRV and Engines Types Covered 3VZ-E (2.4) & 1KZ-TE (3.0), PETROL & DIESEL...is it worth getting one?
Cheers for any help you can offer !!!

If you do a search for manuals there is some info - some people recommend and Max Elery or something I just have a Haynes but I dont do much work on it.
As for tyres expect around £100 a corner as a rough guide.

Make sure the warranty covers the head, if the dealer says yeah no problem it does get him to write it down in black & white. Or buy private, one that already has had the head done.
