  • Irish surfers and VRT

I tried to clear my 94 3.0 surf at the VRT office on Friday. I took out the seats and windows and wanted to clear it as a cat C van.
Should be €50 to clear. The surf came up on the computer as a cat B.
I know lads that have cleared Troopers for €50 and also a guy who cleared a new Merc 4x4.
The VRT office describe a cat C van as having a wheel base of 2.45+ mtr
and a weight in excess of 2,520KG. I don't think the Surf is that heavy but nether is a Trooper. Any Irish surfers with info. Thanks.

    Hi Pat,
I had similar problems trying to make an offroad Quad bike road Legal. Suppose the easiest and obvious thing to do is measure the Wheel base and take the Surf to a Public weighbridge and get a dated weight ticket but belive me it can be a nightmare trying to get a vehicle reregisered into another catagory !!
