    General advice

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:
    >
    >1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
    >2) When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
    >3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the
    >second person.
    >4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
    >5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
    >6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
    >7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
    >8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
    >9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
    >10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

      I have three children myself Alex 13 /jess 11(going on 18) and jake 7.
I cant begin to tell how important routines are.I know it doesnt work for alot of people ,but for me and the wife it worked wonders.
This applies to you and the wife.
One of the best bits of advice i ever got was to have a rountine about who gets up in the night. We took turns to get up and look after the kids at least then you get one good nights sleep out of two.

      all the best

I always work better wet .

            hi m8,
hope all,s going well, two things:

enjoy the baby as, believe me theyr,e not babies long, it only seems like last yr that i cut Amy,s cord(daughter) but she,s 4 in June!! and don,t believe all you hear about sleepless nights, Amy slept for 10hrs 1st night home and has been the same ever since, even now if she wakes during the night she just climbs in with me and the wife and most of the time we don,t know she,s there till the morning!

best of luck to the (soon to be) 3 of you

Congratulations- hope it all goes well for you- as you say the most important thing is that they are healthy and anything else doesn't really matter!

With regards to sleep patterns all children are different. Our John (now 5) slept through from about 5 months and is still a very sound sleeper. Anthony (now 3) still wakes up at 01:30 (the little darling) for a bottle, is a very light sleeper and always want to be in our bed. Chalk & cheese.

What ever happens it will be the best thing you ever did.

                      Congrats to you both.
As others have said here, make the most of it. It won't be long before your daughter comes to you at 19 and says "Dad, you're going to be a grandad!"

Now have 4 grandchildren, two boys & two girls. Lovelt to see them when they come to visit, but just as pleased to be able to hand them bck!

                        C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! !

That's the same weight my little boy was. Well done to Mrs Slim! Best wishes, health & hapiness to the three of you.

                        Mark

PS - Just a word of caution - I don't know if it's the same in England, but aparrently, in Ireland, a new mother can get away with killing the husband/partner (maybe any poor sucker?) up to 2 years after the birth. Something to do with some stuff called "hormones" . . . I'm in the clear on May12th!
