dont think we are quite ready yet.. nursery no where near ready .
this is our first child, and we are both realy happy about it.
i would like a boy and my other half a girl !!
as long as the baby is in good health then i suppose thats all that matters...
bought everything apart from a cot.
at the moment she looks realy big, if thats all baby then i better get a new push chair or a wheel barrow lol....

so if you have any comments or advice this is where to put it??

If you think its expensive now think again. the older they get the more expensive they get. I have two in university at the moment it is crippling, so take my advice whatever the sex start some sort of savings account now, if you intend keeping your surf or any future version. On a lighter note its brilliant having a new child of any orientation, best wishes.

Is this possible ? I have two sprogs (girl aged 3, and boy aged 7months), their nursery fees are a few quid short of 1100 per month (and apparently this isn't bad compared to london/SE). I've started saving for both of them, but it's fair to say we don't have a lot left at the end of the month to save! Surely Uni (even with fees) isn't as expensive?

The good news is that the 'runner can take all the junk you need for 'going away' for the weekend or hols, though i've occasionally wondered about a trailer....

What ever you do, don't expect them to have read the same baby training manuals you have!!
I've got 2 girls - Megan 7 & Caitlin 5 - they are absolutely brilliant!! - funny and annoying (both at the same time)
            GOOD LUCK

              Good Luck Slim!

My two (Matthew, 4 and a half and Robyn, 20 months) are the pride of my life - best things I've ever done (we've ever done... ahem)

It's hard at the start - don't underestimate the all-round destructive power of sleep depravation. I'm not joking.

I hope you're lucky and your baby sleeps. Matthew didn't. For 5 months. And he had an inflamed sternocladomastoid muscle (his neck was hyper-extended during delivery - there's no trace of it now, but we did have to give him physio at home every night for 7 months). But things change. We had to wake him at 9am for Santa on Christmas morning...

The two of mine make coming home from a crap day a tonic. The make all the crap disappear.

We were saving the children's allowance, but I wanted a Honda VTR1000, which I sold to get my Surf. Bit of a sore point, but we're back saving for their future now.

It'll change your perspective on everything you do. Best of luck with the baby when he/she comes along...

                  Slim,

                  congratulations... fantastic news.

a few suggestions that seems to have worked on my two... (2 years old and 1 year old)... (mad or what... heaerd someone call them irish twins the other day... made us both laugh...)

                  http://www.babywhisperer.com

a very good read, the baby one and the toddler one. All common sense really.

This second suggestion is a god send. I cannot recommend this strongly enough. Mum and baby are really receptive to these treatments soon after the birth, and it really makes a big fifference.

If you think about the birth process... and what is actually happening from the perspective of the child.. it is fairly traumatic.. and pretty close to a car accident. This will settle them and mum down. (free treatment for mum in the childs first year) You will have to make a donation for the treatment, which is basically down to what you can afford.

Doesn't matter if its a long forth stage or a short one. (9 hours for the first, 15 minutes for the second)... stressfull for both parties involved...

                  http://www.occ.uk.com/home/home.html

Specially if you have a funny story like I did with my first...

I can't handle the smell of anaesthetic... got a squirt straight in the face with the epidural... passed out and took out three pieces of furniture... (no sense, no feeling), so after a quick double check at A&E, straight back to try and be supportive... We all have a good laugh about it now, seemd to relieve the tension at the time.

Well now I have admitted it...

You may hear a lot about Gina Ford, and her book ' the new contented baby' (or something like that). Some people swear by it and others hate it. It suggests putting babies on a really strict timetable regarding feeding/sleeping etc. to get them into a really 'tight' routine. It's supposed to help them sleep through the night early. I'm not sure that anyone i know ever managed to run their routine 'to the minute' with a baby; you may discover this when yours arrives...

Sprogs are just fab, though don't expect a good nights sleep for anything between the next 3 months to 3 years. You may discover levels of fatigue/exhaustion you never thought possible, but it's easily worth it.

You may also find yourself wondering how single parents manage...

You may develop huge reserves of patience with others; babies don't compromise or think of anything other than 'i want it now'. Not unlike some grown-ups...
