If economy is that much of an issue and pennies not so much look for a 3rd Gen intercooler more power when you want it and closer to 30 to a gallon.
You will find that the newer the truck the more efficient it gets.

The pennies will stretch no problem, i was more concerned with the running costs, mainly fuel ! But since doing a search , i have noticed that the 3.0 ltr returns 25+ mpg !

Are they a little better than the 2.4 or miles better ?

i'm not as experienced with the surf as some of the people here, but i buy and sell surfs/mpv's from Liverpool freeport. we've only ever had three 2.4's and each one had an overheating problem. consequently we decided to stick to the 3 litre and have found them so good i decided to have one as my own transport.
as far as i can tell the running costs are not really any different to the 2.4.....i'm getting about 25mpg around town so it's pretty thrifty all things considered.......


........and when you get it out of town the fun factor is priceless
