    Watched watchdog tonite

what a prat he could not come up with a decent argument about the use of 4x4`s typical of the green eyed !!!!s who do not understand life.

At least they brought in a journalist who did gave the vehicle some credible justice. This guy was saying the Mondeo can do as little as 18 to the gallon which says a lot for our beasts 27 mpg on a run and the rest of the arguments from the !!!! about cyclists well i cant print my thoughts about his ideas as this is a family show...
Im not a gynacologist but ill have a look

if they really wanted to help the enviroment, they would be campaining for less road traffic, not less 4x4s. the only difference between the government and a dictatorship is blair cant make the trains run on time
    it's in me shed, mate.

Having watched tonight's show all I can say is, if the two "experts" they dredged up are the best out there we should have nothing to worry about!

If the first lot were that worried about the environment what were they doing littering the streets with their silly bits of paper (cos both we and they know what is going to happen to their leaflets, don't we)?

As to the "environmentalist", he never had one coherent argument that I could understand and, like most of his type, was never going let the other side of the argument be heard.

I have just emailed watchdog...text below

After watching your article this week on 4x4's I feel you missed out a very important aspect regarding 4x4's. Some people, myself included, actually need to own large strong vehicles to transport equipment. Having owned a vw golf estate which the suspension went on and an escort - which the suspension also failed on. It is surely more environmentally friendly for me to own one car which has a strong suspension, built to carry weight, rather than to keep replacing components - not to mention the added danger of driving what would be an over-loaded vehicle.

The report aslso failed to mention that many of the people carriers and most large executive cars have a larger foot print than the average 4x4 and are also much less economical.

The report was highly biased against 4x4 owners. my current vehcile is 10 years old - it must be better for the environment to have bought an secondhand vehicle rather than a new microcar for the same price..think of all the engery/oil used in the manufacture of a new car - will the 10mpg saving over the life of the car justify the energy use that went into building it? I doubt it.

I wonder..the article mentioned 7% of cars are 4x4's - so that's say 3.5% of the population - I would suggest that actually quite a large proportion of those owners fall into a catergory like mine of owners that require large vehicles.

As for the reasons behind people not liking the 4x4's I reckon its jealousy - not of the car... but the fact that others have a lifestyle which necessitates a different type of vehicle from their own bland run about.

Illegal act filmed on Watch Dog!

I just thought we might want to remind all parties that it is actually illegal to post flyers under windscreen wipers!

I can't remember the exact legislation that it comes under but I know someone who does so would be happy to check if anyone wants to know.

wish I hadnt got one of these 4x4 thingies now....

I wish that they had stuck one of their flyers on me before I bought my surf. I hadn't noticed that it was big and never gave a thought to how much diesel it would use or how it would make the hole in the ozone layer bigger,I just liked the colour. Red is best inntit? do you think they really mind me in the beastie with the " my other car is a motorbike" sticker and me window open smoking a fag ?

Hi guys - hope you don't mind me popping in

I also watched the programme and it made my blood boil. I agree with what EVERYONE else on here has said....
Look at the above though, I think I would have stopped at LIFE, they sit at home thinking up things to make other people miserable instead of getting out there and LIVING IT!!!!

I know I'm a Land Rover owner and shouldn't really be here BUT we're all 4x4ers, we don't wear the same clothes, we don't eat the same food, we don't drive the same vehicles.....because we're INDIVIDUALS but, we are likeminded -
We don't hurt anyone or anything we just wanna have fun....... living life

Linda - I gather you'd hurt yourself - hope you're ok now, miss you
My dog's love me - don't need a second opinion
