  • I need to sort this tonight if poss??

Posted this note below in the tyre section but I really need help now as I have just snapped the valve of while filling the tyres up

I have no spare so I need to get a valve. I tried today but all the garages say "we will fit them if you can get them"

    Thanks for any help

    Mark
plz read below pic is in tyre section

Can anyone give me details of a company where I can buy some replacement valves?
Mine are made of metal and have a 13/13.5 nut on the outside

I do not know who made the alloys as the are non standard (I think) so I cannot go back to them…

Any help would save lots of trips to keep topping them up

    Thanks

this is the link to the piccie http://www.yotasurf-online.co.uk/pub...achmentid=9815

I had a problem with one of my valves and went to a reputable independant tyre company and they were able to order one but it would have been a couple of days to get.

Your best hope to get one tonite is if someone has a scrappy.

    Good luck

If the hole is a standard size (and depth of the hole isnt too deep) then you should be able to get a metal valve from pretty much anywhere, Ford use Metal valves (some newer Mondeos and Focus use them) or you can even use a standard rubber snap in valve - i`ve replaced quite a few metal valves with rubber ones.

To be honest the best thing to do would be to go to a freindly tyre dealer, let them strip the wheel down and see what sort of valve will fit.

You arent anywhere near Leicestershire are you? i`d help you out if you are.

Would also help if you require it today to put your location down, cos "IN A HOUSE" is not an easy place to find, or it may get delivered to the wrong house!!

I had the same problem, most garages think they are a special type. Mine were chrome but when one garage pulled it out it turned out that a standard valve would fit straight in. They reckon most high street places arn't interested in anything out of the ordinary and can't be arsed. Tell them to try a standard type !

                  Thanks

One garage said some thing about rubber ones so I will take it to them first thing in the morning.(Its my first weekend off this month....) and get them to look at it

                  Thanks for the other responces

                  Location= Marlow

Why have metal ones which are prone to breaking in the first place??

A temporary option might be to get a tyre place to put a tube in. My brother put a tube in my spare.

Metal ones were first designed for high speed applications, rubber ones are prone to bending and possibly leaking from the centrifugal forces of a fast turning wheel all of which isnt really relevant to a Surf lol, i never quite worked out why they used them in stuff like Surfs.

Tubes use the same size hole as a rubber snap in valve so if you ca get a tube neck through you`ll be able to get a rubber valve through.

Let us know how you get on tomorrow.
                      Cheers

Took it to a garage and they fitted a rubber one. They did'nt even charge me for doing it!! (did get a quoate for a new spare though ?might be why)

I now see why they had the metal ones in "they look better with the alloy wheel"

Didn't look to clever when I snapped the metal valve in half on the fore court yesterday...

                        Thanks for the advice
