Dear all,
As you have recently sent us a message hostile to our campaign -

I could swap with a Cinquecento owner, then try and get a boiler and 7 radiators, 4 bundles of 3m lenths of pipe etc in the car mon-fri, then at weekend, Err in doors and 3 kids, 4 cat baskets and all the shopping!!!
I'm sure the Fifart owner would get the shopping in the Surf!
Pete
PS. not interested in political arguments about 4x4's. If they are that bad, ban em! Don't think so, we cant ban cigs and they kill!!!!!

I went to see the Mid Devon hunt at Chagford for the boxing day meet. This was held on the Monday due to the "official" boxing day being a sunday.
The anti's turned up to protest on the Sunday,24 Hrs early and did'nt return on the Monday, due,i assume to a severe case of embaressment.
Oh how we laughed!A positive attitude wont solve all your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort!

Another thing that puzzles me is this:
Years ago local farms supplied almost everything that the local area needed. They grew fruit, veg and grain. They produced milk, meat, eggs and fowl. All those things only needed to be transported to the local markets and local slaughter houses. Successive governments of all persuasions have messed about, centralising this and that, so now we have milk tankers travelling all over the country and the continent. The French export their milk here. And all the time everything we eat and drink is becoming more bland. Tomatoes are grown for their colour and sod what they taste like. Apples, grown for their storage properties that taste like blotting paper soaked in sugery water. Small farms put out of business by government red tape and the buying power of the supermarkets.
So next time you are on the way to/from a greenlaning/offroad trip, keep an eye open for the farmers markets or farmers selling from their gates and cut out the fat cat middlemen. It's only a hobby!

Anyway, back to fuel-guzzling monsters. I see the world's largest-ever jumbo Airbus A380 plane has been unveiled:
First view of superjumbo
Bet the government won't be slapping a tax on that - regardless of how many miles it does to the gallon!

Did you know the QE2 does 6 inches to the gallon, and it does not run on Bio Diesel I bet?

Who is campaigning against high-performance sports cars, that's what I'd like to know.
The engines are bigger, the drivers are younger and they're far more likely to be driving at break-neck speeds.
All I can say on the issue of taxing "gas-gusslers" more, is that over 80% of the cost of petrol is already tax...the more you use, the more tax you pay!
I never have my Surf in 4x4 when on the road anyway - does that exempt me from these protests - I doubt it.
A Volvo estate is the same length as my surf, but no-one's complaining about these blocking up the city either.
If anyone can suggest another car, which I can fit 2 x Estrella Mountain Dogs in the boot of (12 stone each!), and still have room for luggage & passengers, then I'd be happy to hear.

Ban 4x4s cos yummy mummies park em on the pavement outside inner city schools.
Ban fast cars cos their noisy and all driven by immature adrenaline junkies.
Ban gas guzzlers cos they are not environmentally friendly.
Ban small cars cos they are unsafe in accidents.
Ban old cars cos they don't comply with any modern regs.
Ban bikes cos they are noisy and dangerous.
Ban caravans cos ... well they get in the way of us immature adrenalin junkies
Etc. etc. etc.
Ban anything on wheels!
You can always find a narrow mind to complain about some aspect of motoring that they don't participate in or just anything to do motoring in general. Usually it's more to do with individuals actions then the group as a whole.
Anyway, if you find my 4x4 on the pavement it's for a worthwile cause - to knock over !!!!!! scootersReal trucks don't have spark plugs

You lot must get it bad down south. Up here we hear nothing of 4x4 bans or demonstrations. Granted our raods have little traffic and often more tractors than cars, but its a different world to Urban England.
What still worries me is that these idiots who want bans, want to ban them countrywide, when 4x4's are seen as essential in all areas outside the central belt of Scotland.
Will farmers etc, get off with any further taxes (if introduced) on 4x4's ? lets face it being a farmer in this day and age is bad enough without further taxes of machines required in daily life. If so what other jobs can be included that require a 4x4 ?
I`m sure if they do decide in any added taxation, they will have to allow working motors a way out and if so that will provide a get-out for most people who use them.
