  • Radio and Antenna

    Hi,

I expect you've all heard this a thousand times...

I've just got a 1994 Surf SSRX and love it to bits. The only drawback is that I can only get Radio 2 - worse than that, I can only get it at the top of hills as my antenna seems to have parted company from the vehicle.

Will any replacement antenna do? I'd prefer a rubber ducky type if possible.

Can I get the stereo 'chipped', or is a replacement a better option? If it's the latter, can any old radio fitting outfit (like halfords) do the job?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Yep a few times but dont worry!

Welcome to the forum, it's a bit mental but very useful

Throw the old radio away and go and get a new head unit, you will never win with a band expander.

If you want to get rid of the electric aerial then any will do. Edit: No it wont it's quite a steep angle, Roughtrax do one http://www.toyotahilux.com/index.php...93&product=863 If not then you can get a replacement mast for the electric one.

Edit: I believe that Milners do a genuine Toyota one for about £32 http://www.milneroffroad.com/

I'll get in before anyone else.......................the site has an excellent search engine on the toolbar. You will find a lot of threads on the aerial and everything else you need.
