  • Glowplug lights on trucks I've driven

Ive never seen a dash glowplug light on any Scania. The first one I drove was a '97 in '99, the second was a '95 in '00, the company I drive for nowadays has two '89s and one '86. None of these trucks ever needed to be glowed up. If they did they didnt mention it.

Anyone know why, ERFs and DAFs too I cant recall glow plug lights.

Jim, most big diesels are Direct Injection ( as apposed to Indirect on your surf ) and just rely on compression for starting. The Transit 2.5di is the same with no glow plugs ( most new car and van diesel engines now manufactured are direct injection and are fitted with glow plugs to keep engines smooth on start up and help reduce emissions )
    Cheers Steve.
