  • pesky ikkle spring.....

    How annoying!!!

Solved my 4Runner's gearbox problems, how one little spring can ruin your whole day!

Look at the end of the arrow, one of the shock load springs has popped out of the clutch plate, and jammed in the clutch cover springs, no wonder it felt like the clutch wasn't working, it couldn't!

    1/

2/ Where the spring should live.....

The only slightly redeeming thing is the clutch plate is on its last legs anyway and would have needed changing this year.

Looks like a standard clutch to me . I have changed a few clutches with loose/missing springs before .All seem to have been very worn or not far from worn out .The use of 4wd may have put extra load on the clutch on engagement weakening the springs .

Well Tony has said since we bought the runner that the clutch was on its way out so I'm not surprised, hes hoping there is one on the spare 2.2 engine we've got for it, otherwise we'll have to actually BUY one!!

Its acually got Aisin stamped on the clutch, so I'm assuming its a genuine Toyota clutch, wonder if it s the original, if so it don't look bad for 225,000km's
