Did anyone see Ewan McGregor and Charley Boormans TV program, Long Way Round ?

I missed it when it was aired, but got the DVD for christmas and its been a really good watch.

They start off in London and try to travel round the world on Motorbike (BMW R 1150 GS Adventurers) through Eastern Europe, Russia, Kazakstan, Mongolia, Russia again (Siberia - The Road of Bones) then they are to fly to Alaska from Magadan and drive through Alaska, Canada and across the USA to New York.

They have a support team that they meet-up at border crossings. The support team consists of a Mitsubishi L200 Animal LWB 4WD Pick Up and a Mitsubishi Shogun Warrior DI-D Auto Estate. They too travel round the world, which at times is quite entertaining.

If you want to find out more about it HERE is the link for the show.

If anyone did see it I`ll happily talk about it, but I don`t want to give much away for those who missed the show.

I was wathcing up up until they got past the road of bones. It's quite entertaining, I just wish they had done more about the contryside they are travelling through - too much of it is just 'look, we're driving through this wonderful countryside, but all we're going to show you is us falling off our bikes'

I'd love to do a trip like that - who's up for it???

I`ve watched up till they flew from Magadan to Alaska. The road of bones bit was very good, i still can`t believe anything would get through some of those rivers.

I too was a bit disappointed that they seemed to show very little of the views, but I think thats all to do with having just that useless French guy as the only camaraman. He was always crashing or breaking down, so would have had little time to film

It would be cool getting a to drive the surf through Mongolia and the likes. Siberia was a little extreme though

I saw the series on satellite up to the Road Of Bones. I wouldn't want to do it in my Surf but when I get my Toyota FJ40 (dream on) I'll do it then.
        It's only a hobby!

It was funny in some instance when they turned over their vehicle in what was apparent very little hump in the road. At least they are all okay...watched it on Sky One and apparently its having a re-run on TV or sky..just cant remember where

I`m not sure how the guy managed to flip his truck like that, he must have been going quite fast. HE siad that the back tire blew out and dug in at an angle and it flipped him round, but you would have to have been moving for it to flip the thing fully laden right over.

Apparently, www.tbruk.com helped them prepare the support vehicles...

Give them a call if you want to do something like that... Chris Hill is getting upto speed.. on Surf's... Give him a call for a chat... tell him I sent you...

              Best wishes, andyL

I only saw the last episode but was hooked from the 1st minute. Lucky man not to have been killed on the freeway when he was rear ended by a kid. Great show by the look of it.
