              I got a Hilux for Xmas-is it a Surf?

A Happy and prosperous new year to all in the UK. I recently emigrated to Thailand (on retirement) early retirement! Looking for a new car out here I took a fancy to an Avanza (never heard of it) made in Indonesia. Told the guy in the showroom I would consider something second hand. To cut a long story short he took me and the missus to the Khon Kaen motor show and I saw this wonderfull car (second hand) on a competitors stand. So after a test drive I did the business. Is it a Surf? Having found, and joined your web site certainly the pictures I have seen would confirm it so. Of course everything that came with the car is in Thai, my wife speaks perfect English but her technical knowledge is ZIP. The car was made in 2001 at the Toyota works in Thailand, and the bits I have managed to extract are Model/SFX LN 167R-CRMSSTA 05 and the series is HLU4. Badged Toyota and Hilux 3.0D, on the back door it says Sports Runner 5, and on the body graphics it says Goa Body. I will attach some pictures when I find out how to if this will help. I would be much obliged for any feedback and comments.
P.S. Filled with a full tank yesterday, just short of 70litres £11.48!!!

                    Can I still join?

Very many thanks for the response to my question 'Is it a surf' the imformation was first class. Also thanks to all who expressed their thoughts regarding the events out here in Thailand. We are hundreds of miles away from where events occured although I know the places really well, one of my most favourite dive sites in the world -Pee-pee island -is utterly destroyed, what has been the most horrible has been the coverage by Thai TV, they really do not pull any punches, everything -and I mean everything -is shown in the most graphic detail.
Having received the information, and from the photos enclosed (I think I know how to do it) can I still join?
Happy New year to one and all
No the computer thingy says my file is to large, I will post the pictures as soo as I find out how to! But honest it looks just like a Surf

You are most welcome on the forum, it's a Hilux and the Surf is a Hilux.

Come on in and join in the fun.

Glad to hear you are well away from all the mayhem. A friend of mine emigrated to Thailand a few years back but lives up near the border with Laos so I think he should be a long way away too.

If you want to post some pictures, create a normal message and then scroll down before hitting submit. You will see a button "manage attachments", click on this, browse for the files you want to attach, upload. It will tell you when they have uploaded, if there is a problem such as the file is too large then it will also tell you and you will need to use a graphics program to reduce the file size. If you have a problem you can always email them to me at harveyaj11@hotmail.com and I will post them for you.

                      Cheers

Judging by the relfections on your doors- you have a lovely view from your driveway!

I got a radio control RC mini helicopter (technically for my birthday), an in car MP3 player, various CDs (best of the Who, Best of Paul Weller, Scissor Sisters), Clarksons new book, and various bits of clothing the missus likes.

I noticed someone got an RC glider. Any joy yet? (I wrote a few articles for RCM&E, own designs, free plans and stuff - and thats my claim to fame)
