i lost 3 years for a nicked stereo... wish i hadn't claimed now!
i've been laughed at today and quoted over £2000...
everyone seems to think you should be over 30 with full no claims to drive a surf!

don't know what's changed since i got the surf?... they were all around the same price (£1000ish) then but it's all doubled!
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

Have you thought about getting a copy of your credit record? Maybe there is something nasty on there that shouldn't be there? It only cost £2..

        Matt, Who have you tried?

        Have you tried Liverpool Victoria?
If life's an uphill struggle then downhill from now on can't be that bad?!

i can't beleive some of these premiums I'm seeing. Do they make you bend over (unlubed )before you sign the policy as well? I pay $45 /month (about 19 quid). I'm 33 (but quite handsome and spirited for my age ).
We have a different no claim bonus system over here, most insurers give you rating 1 (top discount, 60% i think) for LIFE after 5 years without a claim.

Oh well at least you have nice weather & cheap housing in the UK

This is ridiculous - there must be a way of getting insured for less than that
Have you checked out the link I sent you? (PM)
            NO WORRIES!

Mind you some people will go to any lengths to get out of planning a green lanes trip.......

Seriously though m8, thats a really tough break... hope you find a way round it and get to keep her...
When I rang A-Plan they immediately told they don't insure Imports. Where's the consistency among these robbing bas*ards - I mean gentlemen of an honourable proffession.

I have to pay about £2000 because I'm only 22 and have 0 NCB.

Only a couple of places would even talk to me and one of them quoted £5000!!!

                Is yours an import mate?

I had that from Tescos - they told me they didn't do imports...

I fell out with Tesco's too for the same reasons, even after explaining that they do in fact insure surfs, they still weren't playing.
I ended up staying with Direct Line - My premium went up from £22 per month for my Fabia to £46 per month and then I added in the breakdown stuff as well so I pay about £52 per month/ I'm 33, female, full NCB(protected) and have a named driver on the policy, my partner who is a haulage contractor/company director (depending on who's asking) with his own vehicle(s) and policies. It is worth shopping around - most of the online ones didn't want to know so try your local broker and see what they come up with if all else fails.
It seems so unfair to have to part with your pride and joy - we had a similar situation about 10 years ago with a Lancia Delta HF turbo which I really missed at the time..........soon cured by hefty repair bills!!
                    Anyway - don't give up!

I'm insured with Tescos, seems it depends who you talk to. Mines listed as a Toyota Hilux Surf 2.4 SSR.

A Plan wouldn't insure except through the St Albans Branch.

Direct line wanted an imobiliser and I have yet to fit one.

                      Cheers

Me to with Tesco's, first phone call to them 'don't do insurance on that vehicle. Second phone call to a different operative and i was insured. Shame they can't be consistent within the company.

Weird! The dealer I bought my Surf from (and they only sell imports) are promoting Tesco - they have posters and signs everywhere and send all their customers there!

Can't believe some of the prices I'm seeing £2000 to insure a surf ??? They are a fun car but not that much fun for £2000 !!! I am with direct line for £375 fully comp and all the extras, I'm 28. The moral of this story is hunt around and think is it really worth paying over the odds for an overall expensive car to run.????????????????

                              £1460 for me

Most quotes I had at the time were around £2000.

Thats bull, I am insured through A-Plan, they have a special team that deals with it in Thatcham.
