  • PMR Radios (walkie talkies)

I've just bought a pair of walkie talkies from Maplins, just the thing for group off road activities....

FreeQuancy 120tx 2 way radio twin pack

£29.99 on promotion at the moment (£10 off)

These things are pretty good, they're really small (easily fit in the palm of your hand), and really easy to use (my 5 year old got the hang of them in less than a minute). They support 8 channels, and 38 sub channels, have VOX activation, channel scan, call tone, 'roger' tone, and channel scan. They come with all that you need - rechargeable batteries, mains adapter for charging, and belt clips.

The assistant in the shop was quite surprised at the price they were being sold at, and recommended them over the £50 set they also had.

only trouble with the vox function is when you're playing with them out side McD's and he's talking to his girlfriend about the "fat dude" that just came out and he doesn't realise his is on "vox" and i'm standing next to the fat dude!...
