  • 3.0 SSRG 2nd Gen

Hi thanks for looking at my advert, due to other commitments etc. I am letting my 3.0 surf go.
I have recently posted that the rear Diff seems to have gone and tbh I don’t have the time or the means to repair it. I think this would be an easy repair for someone with the right tools and time just and having had a quote to break it has made me think I would put it to the forum for sale as spares or repair and then if no interest i will let it go to the Breakers.

Its currently sat on my Drive taxed till the end of September and I think the MOT is about the same time.

    Spec:-

    3.0TD
    2" suspention lift
2" body lift completed by Jotto.
16” alloys on with M&S which from what I can remember as they are Metric are about 32”
Straight through Stainless exhaust from the Flexi pipe.
Had a Roughtrax head fitted about 20K since with all the required stuff like Cambelt etc,
    SSRG Recaro interior
    Cruse Control works

It sat last year all the way through the summer on my drive and after charging the batteries it started first time.

My phone has decided to eat the Photos i took last night so will try and get some more if anyone is interested, or i can PM them.

Looking for something around the £700 - £800 mark as all ready been offered just short of £500 as scrap.

So come on grab a bargan and let this beast rise again.

If you were not 300 miles away that would be my next project.

Bargain for someone, should be an easy sale.

        Will it drive?

Presumably you can disconnect the rear prop & drive it as front wheel drive?

Sorry to hear that - hope your feeling better soon.

I actually meant for any prospective buyer. If they can disconnect the rear prop, they can drive it away - it might mean more people are interested in buying it

Good luck with the sale. If only I were a bit closer too

Thanks but it's only a hernia op I had, just cannot lift anything heavy for a while.

So just to clarify, if you disconnected the rear prop you could drive it away?
Would you have to have it in 4wd ?
Sorry for sounding stupid just thinking aloud and trying to decide if it's worth the drive up there😊 also would the diff off of a 93 2.4 be the same? Maybe different ratio?

As far as I know Mike, yes. With the rear prop disconnected and 4x4 engaged it should become front wheel drive.

I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge than me will be along in a bit to confirm it though.

Depends a little bit on what's actually wrong with the diff...but the theory is sound.

When I tried to move it on the handbreak it just wouldn't move at all and just made loads of crunching noise.
Took it off the handbreak and onto 4x4 and it moved again.

So maybe broken teeth and/or collapsed bearings?

                          Stripped crown wheel?

Have you been doing lots of burnouts recently?

So in 4wd without the rear prop it won't screw the front diff/transfer box/gearbox ? Just sounding out because I would have a 150/200 mile drive? If of course the diff from my 2.4 could be swapped over.. Decisions decisions 😊
