I have an '89, so one of the first 2nd gens, they'd obviously not worked out that plastic didn't exactly offer much in the way of protection by then!
Yeah - our 2.4 had a plastic one - it survived 1 trip to the pit then got trashed at Pingewood!!

Assuming all goes well on Monday (my fingers are crossed too) and assuming you're not back ordered, then can I put my name down for one? I can collect easily enough, I'll also be going down south (herts) and to the moor romp (lancs) over the coming weekend if you need any delivering.

How much would it cost to get one over the sea. I had one but had to grind off the brackets that held it on to install the steering damper. Yours bolts directly to the crossmember, doesn't it?
          Cheers

if there are any takers for the last one please let me know
The price is still a reasonable £40 plus p&p (about £7.50 (as long as Royal Mail haven't hiked up their prices!!!))

Advice to anyone thinking about buying one of these off Rusty - do it now!!

They're made perfectly, the 2 things in my mind whilst spending all of 5 minutes swapping it for my crappy plastic one were "fits" and "like a glove".

Cheers Rusty, everytime I bounce over something I shall think of you and smile!

It's something we've looked at a while ago but found that the 3rd gen ones are in 2 pieces, rather curved and require a bit more engineering than the 2nd gen ones so at the moment the answer is No. (unfortunately my mate broke the bender and we're still waiting for the casting to be returned (correctly made - it's been made once and was wrong) plus 4runner Pete anihilated the lower half of his plate so much that it is impossible to take any measurements from it)
If I could get a 3rd gen for a day it would be a start then I could get some sort of idea on how to approach it

                              Hi rusty

I like the look of the bash plates you make, did you see the post when i visited tony and linda? if so would it be possible to make one of your plates out of 6mm if i can get it to you to match my belly plate? The 6mm i used was picked up from a sheet metal worker near where i work for the grand total of £40 as the "off cut" was too small for them to use lol

6mm!!! - rock sliding are we???? that would depend on whether I can get a sheet of 6mm at a reasonable price. I normal buy a full 8' x 4' sheet and do them out of 4mm (easier to bend) I can keep my eyes open for an off-cut....
