I'm sure I posted these piccies on here before but in the wrong thread so I'll stick em in here and say a big THANKS to Rusty for making it, and horrmygollop for passing it on to me. (the surf postal service works real well)
and the Bash plate fits like a glove.
5 so far
Pete came around today and brought me the remenants of his bash plate.
The 3rd gen's come in 2 parts - Pete had managed to totally destroy the back piece beyond repair/visible inspection and the inability to gauge/measure the fixing holes - NICE ONE PETER!!!!
My mate (Rob the Engineering Genius) had a look and reckons that he can build a more substantial bash plate that will also protect and prevent the rad. getting covered in mud.
Matt, As for dropping the diff, until we get a good look at the underside (not while it's pi$$ing down with rain!!) I can't say.
If I can recall the diff wouldn't stick down lower than the cross member where the plate bolts onto.
If you get an opportunity to put it up on ramps take some pics and mail them to me please.
Just fitted my bash plate at the weekend and it fits a treat - sweet as, thanks alot Steve. And thanks also to Linda for taking delivery so I could pick it up local to me and not have to pay anything for postage!
Just gotta go try and bash it off roading now....or should that be try NOT to bash it...
Having spoken to various Forum members and searched the internet for some comparatives (pricewise) I'm selling these at £40 + p&p (or via the "surf train")
If anybody feels this is an unfair price then please let me know
Are they a straight replacement for the original? I think my 93 2.4 has 4 mounting points.
are you still making / planning to make more bash plates, I feel the need to replace my surf's plastic effort with something a tad more substantial before taking it too far offroad!
