  • Finding a local-ish (Sussex-ish) Hilux "specialist"

    Hi,

I'm thinking of having some work done to my 1994 2nd gen. I'm looking for somewhere vaguely local to me (slap bang in the middle of Sussex) who's knowledgeable about Surfs. I found 4x4 Toys over in Basingstoke, but they're not actually taking business at the moment. Any ideas?

I'm vaguely thinking about making the Surf more "Apocalypse-ready" (basically I want to have a vehicle I could drive to Africa or somewhere if I had to), entirely for giggles.

    I'm thinking about:

New springs and shocks (they're ... tired). Maybe a small lift.
    Winch bumper (well, why not?)
    Snorkel
Possibly a rear diff-locker [is this even possible?]

Obviously this would all depend on the amount of money I can find down the back of the sofa.

    Any recommendations?

    cheers

I think he got that from the web site rather than phoning Tony. The web page says they are shut but it's been like that for a long time. I'm led to believe you can still ring and get booked in although I haven't tried that myself. Mine could do with a service so I might give it a try.

Correct - I got it from the website and haven't actually tried phoning them - it's a fair point and I'll give it a go now. Thanks

And I'll let that be a lesson to me...

Just spoken to Tony and he's up for the work; the website is merely out of date.
